Sunseed Oil limited is one of the major Agro processors in Malawi manufacturing several products which include vitamin A fortified edible vegetable oil, high in protein foods like Mulawe soya soya pieces, Iron fortified maize flour, non-refrigerated vitamin enriched margarine and laundry and hygien soaps. Recently, Sunseed has focused on increasing production of human consumption food products which is inline with government of Malawi’s Nutrition Policy. The policy recognizes private sector as one of the key drivers in its efforts to combat malnutrition. Through its operations, Sunseed has also contributed to governments efforts of reducing unemployment both in the formal and informal sector.
Sunseed Oil Limited plays a key role in supporting smallholder farmers by coordinating initiatives that address obstacles in agribusiness, particularly as demand for raw materials like soya, maize, sunflower, and groundnuts rises. Through direct interventions or partnerships with organizations like GIZ, Opportunity International, NASFAM, and government ministries, Sunseed helps farmers and SMEs thrive. Additionally, Sunseed holds ISO and HACCP certifications, allowing the company to supply high-quality products such as Corn Soya Blend to major organizations like the World Food Programme (WFP) and OTC, ensuring compliance with global food safety and quality standards.
