Sunseed committed to developing skills of future professionals

Sunseed is dedicated to developing the next generation of professionals by bridging the gap between academic training and real-world industry experience. That is the reason we are proud to partner with Lilongwe University of Agriculture and Natural Resources to provide internships for eight promising young professionals this time around. Among these interns, six are motivated young women, and two are equally promising young men.

One common challenge faced by many students is the lack of practical experience required to excel in their chosen fields. Despite their academic achievements, the transition from classroom learning to industry application can be daunting. Recognizing this, Sunseed has stepped forward to create opportunities that allow these students to engage themselves in a real industrial food processing environment.

It is part of Sunseed’s broader strategy to collaborate with institutions of higher learning in skill development of these young professionals.  By offering these internships, we aim to equip students with hands-on experience, thereby enhancing their readiness for the professional world. This partnership not only benefits the students but also contributes to the industry by preparing a workforce that is knowledgeable, skilled, and ready to meet contemporary demands.

We acknowledge the significant gender disparities that exist in many industries. Often, women have fewer opportunities to gain the experience needed to advance their careers. At Sunseed, we are committed to addressing this imbalance. By prioritizing female students in our internship program, we aim to provide more equitable access to professional development opportunities. This decision reflects our commitment to promoting gender equality and empowering women to achieve their full potential.

Our internship program aligns with the Malawi government’s youth empowerment and development agenda. By helping to produce graduates who are competent and confident, we contribute positively to the nation’s economic growth. We believe that by investing in these young professionals, we are not only enhancing their future prospects but also contributing to the broader goals of national development.

As we welcome these eight students to Sunseed, we are excited about the fresh perspectives and innovative ideas they will bring to our operations. We are confident that this experience will be transformative for them, equipping them with the skills and knowledge necessary to thrive in their careers. We remain committed to supporting the youth of Malawi and driving forward initiatives that promote education, professional development, and gender equality. Together, we can build a brighter, more inclusive future for all
